How to choose
Screen instrument or real instrument
Real Guitar and Perfect Piano are instruments you play on the display. Guitar Tuner is for the physical guitar in your hands — it listens through the microphone and tells you how far each string is from pitch.
Strings or keys
Real Guitar is built around chords and tabs; Perfect Piano around a keyboard you can actually play. If you are following guitar tab, you want the first; if you think in keys and chords, the second.
Practice needs tempo
Guitar Tuner includes a metronome with adjustable BPM — useful far beyond guitar, whenever you practise in time.
Know what the subscription unlocks
All three are free to download with in-app purchases. Check which sounds, songs or tools the paid tier adds before starting a trial.
Questions about music apps
Can I tune a real guitar with the phone?
Yes. Guitar Tuner listens through the microphone and shows how far each string is from pitch. Chromatic tuning also covers other stringed instruments — ukulele or bass included.
Can I play piano without owning one?
Perfect Piano puts a playable keyboard on the screen — keys, chords and recording. It is an instrument to play rather than a lesson course, so treat it as practice and fun, not a structured curriculum.
Is there a metronome?
Yes — Guitar Tuner includes a metronome with adjustable tempo, usable for any instrument you practise with.
Are these apps free?
All three are free to download with in-app purchases. The paid tiers typically add more instrument sounds and songs and remove ads; the tuner's core tuning works in the free tier. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings.
