Network & Security Apps for iPhone

Internet speed test, WiFi analyzer and VPN

Apps for the moment the connection misbehaves: measure real download and upload speed, check the WiFi around you, see what is connected to your network — and stay private on networks you do not own.

How to choose

  • Decide what you need to see

A speed number answers “how fast right now”. Understanding a recurring problem needs more: which devices are connected, where delay appears along the route, how the signal behaves around the house.

  • Check what runs on your network, not just your line

Slow evenings are often congestion or a weak Wi-Fi spot rather than the plan you pay for. Tools that scan the local network and visualise signal help you tell those apart.

  • Look at what is kept

A single reading is weak evidence. Apps that store a history let you compare morning with evening, or before and after moving the router.

  • Mind the permissions

AR signal mapping needs the camera; a VPN installs a network profile. Grant what the feature genuinely needs and no more.

Questions about network & security apps

Which app should I use to test my internet speed?

Both Speed Test & Wifi Analyzer and WIFI & Internet Speed Test measure download, upload and ping and keep a history of results. Speed Test & Wifi Analyzer adds the deeper diagnostics — LAN scanning, traceroute, open ports and AR signal mapping — if you want to find the cause rather than record the symptom.

Why is my Wi-Fi slower in some rooms?

Distance, walls and interference from other networks all reduce signal strength. AR mode in Speed Test & Wifi Analyzer shows real-time delay between the router and your phone as you move, which makes the weak areas visible instead of theoretical.

Does a VPN make my connection faster?

No. A VPN routes your traffic through another server, which usually costs a little speed. It routes your traffic through a server elsewhere, so services see that server’s address instead of yours — useful on a shared network or for reaching a service as if from another location, not for speed. It is not an audited security product: protocol, logging and leak behaviour are not published for this app.

Are these apps free?
